Every autumn, nature puts on a brilliant show of color in many parts of the world especially in United States. The color transform from bright yellow to red. The foliage season begins in September in northern regions like New Hampshire and ends in southern region in late October.

Last year we visited Mount Washington, New Hampshire for watching the fabulous natural festival of colors. Mount Washington is the highest peak in the Northeastern United States at 6,288 ft (1,917 m). It is famous for its dangerously erratic weather, holding the record for the highest wind gust directly measured at the Earth's surface, at 231 mph (372 km/h) on the afternoon of April 12, 1934.

The mountain is located in the Presidential Range of the White Mountains, in Coos County, New Hampshire. It is the third highest state high point in the eastern U.S. and the most prominent peak in the Eastern United States.

You can drive up to the Mountain or you can catch the train. The train ride was fantastic. The look and feel of the train journey on the mountain was unforgettable. Driving up hill was really adventurous.

High Point State Park New Jersey - Fall Attraction

It was little bit cloudy in the morning. We started around 10 am from our home. Last fall we went New Hampshire to visit the fall color. This year we decided to visit the nearest fall attraction. Our search lead us to the High Point State park.

The view from High Point Monument, at 1,803 feet above sea level, is a spectacular panorama of rich farmland and forest, soft hills and lush valleys in three states. The blue line of the Delaware River divides the verdant ridges of New Jersey from those of Pennsylvania. High Point offers superb trails for hikers and skiers and quiet spots for campers and anglers.

The land for High Point State Park, donated by Colonel Anthony R. and Susie Dryden Kuser, was dedicated as a park in 1923. The pleasant landscaping was designed by the Olmsted Brothers of Boston, a prominent landscape architectural firm of that time. The brothers were the sons of the eminent Frederick Law Olmsted, who designed Central Park.

The initial response from the viewers, ‘Unnai Pol Oruvan’ can be regarded as ‘Better than the best’. Mohanlal and Kamal did a great performance throughout the movie. Before releasing the movie People thought there would be lot of masala. But the reality is they have added a special helicopter to bring the terrorist from Bangalore Jail. Of course, the biggest highlighting feature is that Kamal hasn’t let any changes to the script including the film’s duration (that exactly goes with 100mins).

Here I am not discussing the story but the performance of both Kamal and Lal are superb. Unlike Kamal’s previous films, where he delineates himself in prominent role overshadowing others, he has likely delivered an unparalleled endeavor. Mohan Lal is ‘wordlessly stupendous’ and he keeps you engrossing all throughout the show. As a matter of fact, he has got more importance than Kamal Haasan, who sweeps us off on our senses in climax portion.

Both in Kerala and Tamilnadu the movie will be a super hit because two legends of south India are acting in this film. This is the first time Mohanlal joins hands with Kamal and became a history in Tamil Cinema. Most of the people remembered Kamal’s “Kuruthippunal” movie this time. This is also a history in Tamil Cinema because with out Masala song and Comedy a movie become super hit.

Tamil viewers already saw Mohanlal’s talent in “Iruvar”. This movie will be make Mohanlal close to Tamil Cinema again. We can expect Mohanlal join hands with Rajini Kanth Soon.

Gandhi Jayanthi - Google pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi

WASHINGTON: Internet search giant Google paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on Friday on the 140th anniversary of his birth, replacing the 'G' in its colorful logo with his picture.

Clicking on the logo takes a reader to links in the Google search engine to websites about Gandhi, who was born Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi on October 2, 1869 and was assassinated on January 30, 1948.

Google frequently changes the colorful logo on its famously sparse home page to mark holidays, anniversaries or significant events.

It added flying saucers last month to pay homage to British science fiction writer H G Wells, author of the 1898 classic, "The War of the Worlds."

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was the pre-eminent political and spiritual leader of India during the Indian Independence Movement. Gandhi is commonly known around the world as Mahatma Gandhi and in India also as Bapu. He is officially honoured in India as the Father of the Nation; his birthday, 2 October, is commemorated there as Gandhi Jayanti, a national holiday, and worldwide as the International Day of Non-Violence.

As a practitioner of ahimsa, he swore to speak the truth and advocated that others do the same. Gandhi lived modestly in a self-sufficient residential community and wore the traditional Indian dhoti and shawl, woven with yarn he had hand spun on a charkha. He ate simple vegetarian food, and also undertook long fasts as a means of both self-purification and social protest.

A Wednesday – Thekkady Lake turns Aansoo lake (Tear lake)

Thekkady Lake became Tear Lake on Wednesday evening. In the worst tourism tragedy in Kerala, at least 38 tourists including 13 children died after a state-run double-deck boat carrying at least 76 tourists suddenly capsized on Wednesday(30th September 2009) in the famous Thekkady Lake in Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary in Idukki district.

Rescue operations have now been called off and now a search is on for the bodies of those still missing.

The Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) boat pressed into service just one month back sank after cruising five km from the boarding point in Thekkady (about 150 km from Kochi) from where it had set out around 4 PM, a district administration official said.

It appears that basic safety norms were flouted in the boat cruise as none of the passengers was wearing a life jacket.

Initial reports suggest that the boat capsized as the tourists were trying to catch a glimpse of elephants in the Periyar Wildlife Santuary surrounding the lake and moved to one side of the boat.

There was no professional guide on the boat, a safety requirement for tourist boat rides. Had there been a guide, the tourists could have been warned against doing that.

The disaster has once again brought attention to the issue of implementing safety standards for tourism services and boat cruises.

There were just two lifesavers on the boat who played a key role in rescuing the tourists.

Officials said nine Delhiites, including four of a family, were among the victims. Bodies of 21 victims have been identified so far and none of them are from Kerala. The victims included 13 children.

According to eyewitnesses, the tragedy occurred when the ill-fated boat 'Jalakanyaka' tilted after several tourists moved to one side on sighting elephants in the wildlife sanctuary on the banks of the lake. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals in Periyar.

The tourists were mainly from outside Kerala mainly coming from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. 21 bodies have been identified. Some victims hailed from Delhi, Punjab and Kolkata. Unconfirmed reports said two foreigners whose nationality was not immediately known were also among the victims.

Eyewitnesses say the boat was narrow and toppled when the tourists rushed to one side apparently to see wild animals.

In a boat cruise on a lake that is dotted with tree stumps, some of them submerged, making it imperative that only experienced drivers navigate in the area.
