A winter storm is an event in which the dominant varieties of precipitation are forms that only occur at cold temperatures, such as snow or sleet, or a rainstorm where ground temperatures are cold enough to allow ice to form (i.e. freezing rain).

The National Weather Service said much of the state could receive a blanket of snow, along with heavy winds, from late tonight through Saturday night.

A Winter Storm Warning that begins at 1 a.m. Saturday and lasts through 6 a.m. Sunday has been issued for most of New Jersey, making snow, sleet and freezing rain the Grinch that might steal your last holiday shopping weekend.

In southern areas of the state, from Ocean County down, snow could start as early as 1 a.m., with accumulation from 4 to 8 inches. From Monmouth and Mercer counties northward, accumulation is expected to be slightly lower, from 4 to 6 inches, and the snow should start closer to daybreak.

The following is a brief list of general winter weather preparedness tips:

Travel Items to Include: All cars should be equipped with road maps, a cell phone, a shovel, a windshield scraper, a towrope, booster cables, and a brightly colored cloth to use as a distress signal. A bag of sand or non-clumping cat litter to spread under tires if stuck in snow is also recommended.

On the Road:

Always follow the rules of the road and adhere to the following guidelines:

Always buckle your seat belt.

Brake properly to avoid skidding. If driving on snow or ice, start slowly and brake gently. Begin braking early when approaching an intersection.

If the vehicle starts to slide, ease off the gas pedal or brakes. Steer into the direction of the skid until regaining traction, and then straighten the vehicle. For vehicles with antilock brakes, apply steady pressure.

Visibility and speed:

In fog, drive with headlights set on dim or use fog lights.

In rain, fog, snow or sleet, stay within the limits of your vision. If it is too difficult to see, pull off the road and stop.

Drive slowly and increase following distance. Vehicle speed should adjust for conditions and match the flow of traffic.

Watch for slick spots. Be physically and mentally prepared to react.

“I had the honour to participate in the first public reception, given to him in Kottayam, after he became Union Minister in 1999. O Rajagopal is above politics and is helped and praised by all. He used his Ministership for the good of people, especially in Kerala. I was not able to co-operate with BJP politically, due to ideological differences, but had good relations with him. That is the strength of our democracy and system. But sadly, instead of competing with other parties for welfare and development of people, some parties (CPM), are attacking other parties with weapons, liquidating them, physically. This politics of confrontation and intolerance has to give way to politics of development, welfare and conciliation. I wish O Rajagopal long life in service of Kerala,” Shri Oommen concluded.

The Kerala Speedster S. Sreesanth came to Guruvayoor to give thanks to Guruvayoorappan. Indian Speedster Sreesanth is devotee of Lord Guruvayoorappan and a regular visitor to the Temple.

Sreesanth was declared Man of the Match at the Kanpur Test against Sri Lanka where India recorded its 100th Test victory. Saturday is considered an auspicious day for devotees of the Sri Krishna Temple as it is Ekadashi, according to the Hindu calendar. More over the Home Cricket authority tried to push him out of team India. Even though he played in county cricket and proved his talent. Finally Team India selection committee gave him chance. He used that chance and return Team India with valuable 5 wickets.

He says really God only helped him to came back.Born-again pacer S Sreesanth, claiming to be one of the most misunderstood cricketers in the world, feared he may not play for India again after a series of controversies plagued his career. "To be honest, I never thought I will play for the country again. Sreesanth felt it was a sort of re-birth at the Green Park where he played his last Test against South Africa last year. "I played my last Test here and it's nice to start here again. It's like a cycle, you go back from here and come back here again," he said.

Earlier, Sreesanth, who bowled an extended spell of nine overs in the morning session, claimed the wickets of Tharanga Paranavitana, Kumar Sangakkara and Thilan Samaraweera. The Kerala pacer went on to complete his second five-wicket haul in Test cricket by scalping Prasanna Jayawardene and Rangana Herath in the post-lunch session.

Last year we visited Mount Washington, New Hampshire for watching the fabulous natural festival of colors. Mount Washington is the highest peak in the Northeastern United States at 6,288 ft (1,917 m). It is famous for its dangerously erratic weather, holding the record for the highest wind gust directly measured at the Earth's surface, at 231 mph (372 km/h) on the afternoon of April 12, 1934.

The mountain is located in the Presidential Range of the White Mountains, in Coos County, New Hampshire. It is the third highest state high point in the eastern U.S. and the most prominent peak in the Eastern United States.

You can drive up to the Mountain or you can catch the train. The train ride was fantastic. The look and feel of the train journey on the mountain was unforgettable. Driving up hill was really adventurous.

High Point State Park New Jersey - Fall Attraction

It was little bit cloudy in the morning. We started around 10 am from our home. Last fall we went New Hampshire to visit the fall color. This year we decided to visit the nearest fall attraction. Our search lead us to the High Point State park.

The view from High Point Monument, at 1,803 feet above sea level, is a spectacular panorama of rich farmland and forest, soft hills and lush valleys in three states. The blue line of the Delaware River divides the verdant ridges of New Jersey from those of Pennsylvania. High Point offers superb trails for hikers and skiers and quiet spots for campers and anglers.

The land for High Point State Park, donated by Colonel Anthony R. and Susie Dryden Kuser, was dedicated as a park in 1923. The pleasant landscaping was designed by the Olmsted Brothers of Boston, a prominent landscape architectural firm of that time. The brothers were the sons of the eminent Frederick Law Olmsted, who designed Central Park.

The initial response from the viewers, ‘Unnai Pol Oruvan’ can be regarded as ‘Better than the best’. Mohanlal and Kamal did a great performance throughout the movie. Before releasing the movie People thought there would be lot of masala. But the reality is they have added a special helicopter to bring the terrorist from Bangalore Jail. Of course, the biggest highlighting feature is that Kamal hasn’t let any changes to the script including the film’s duration (that exactly goes with 100mins).

Here I am not discussing the story but the performance of both Kamal and Lal are superb. Unlike Kamal’s previous films, where he delineates himself in prominent role overshadowing others, he has likely delivered an unparalleled endeavor. Mohan Lal is ‘wordlessly stupendous’ and he keeps you engrossing all throughout the show. As a matter of fact, he has got more importance than Kamal Haasan, who sweeps us off on our senses in climax portion.

Both in Kerala and Tamilnadu the movie will be a super hit because two legends of south India are acting in this film. This is the first time Mohanlal joins hands with Kamal and became a history in Tamil Cinema. Most of the people remembered Kamal’s “Kuruthippunal” movie this time. This is also a history in Tamil Cinema because with out Masala song and Comedy a movie become super hit.

Tamil viewers already saw Mohanlal’s talent in “Iruvar”. This movie will be make Mohanlal close to Tamil Cinema again. We can expect Mohanlal join hands with Rajini Kanth Soon.

Gandhi Jayanthi - Google pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi

WASHINGTON: Internet search giant Google paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on Friday on the 140th anniversary of his birth, replacing the 'G' in its colorful logo with his picture.

Clicking on the logo takes a reader to links in the Google search engine to websites about Gandhi, who was born Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi on October 2, 1869 and was assassinated on January 30, 1948.

Google frequently changes the colorful logo on its famously sparse home page to mark holidays, anniversaries or significant events.

It added flying saucers last month to pay homage to British science fiction writer H G Wells, author of the 1898 classic, "The War of the Worlds."

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was the pre-eminent political and spiritual leader of India during the Indian Independence Movement. Gandhi is commonly known around the world as Mahatma Gandhi and in India also as Bapu. He is officially honoured in India as the Father of the Nation; his birthday, 2 October, is commemorated there as Gandhi Jayanti, a national holiday, and worldwide as the International Day of Non-Violence.

As a practitioner of ahimsa, he swore to speak the truth and advocated that others do the same. Gandhi lived modestly in a self-sufficient residential community and wore the traditional Indian dhoti and shawl, woven with yarn he had hand spun on a charkha. He ate simple vegetarian food, and also undertook long fasts as a means of both self-purification and social protest.

A Wednesday – Thekkady Lake turns Aansoo lake (Tear lake)

Thekkady Lake became Tear Lake on Wednesday evening. In the worst tourism tragedy in Kerala, at least 38 tourists including 13 children died after a state-run double-deck boat carrying at least 76 tourists suddenly capsized on Wednesday(30th September 2009) in the famous Thekkady Lake in Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary in Idukki district.

Rescue operations have now been called off and now a search is on for the bodies of those still missing.

The Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) boat pressed into service just one month back sank after cruising five km from the boarding point in Thekkady (about 150 km from Kochi) from where it had set out around 4 PM, a district administration official said.

It appears that basic safety norms were flouted in the boat cruise as none of the passengers was wearing a life jacket.

Initial reports suggest that the boat capsized as the tourists were trying to catch a glimpse of elephants in the Periyar Wildlife Santuary surrounding the lake and moved to one side of the boat.

There was no professional guide on the boat, a safety requirement for tourist boat rides. Had there been a guide, the tourists could have been warned against doing that.

The disaster has once again brought attention to the issue of implementing safety standards for tourism services and boat cruises.

There were just two lifesavers on the boat who played a key role in rescuing the tourists.

Officials said nine Delhiites, including four of a family, were among the victims. Bodies of 21 victims have been identified so far and none of them are from Kerala. The victims included 13 children.

According to eyewitnesses, the tragedy occurred when the ill-fated boat 'Jalakanyaka' tilted after several tourists moved to one side on sighting elephants in the wildlife sanctuary on the banks of the lake. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals in Periyar.

The tourists were mainly from outside Kerala mainly coming from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. 21 bodies have been identified. Some victims hailed from Delhi, Punjab and Kolkata. Unconfirmed reports said two foreigners whose nationality was not immediately known were also among the victims.

Eyewitnesses say the boat was narrow and toppled when the tourists rushed to one side apparently to see wild animals.

In a boat cruise on a lake that is dotted with tree stumps, some of them submerged, making it imperative that only experienced drivers navigate in the area.

Mohanlal and Kamalhasan together in Unnaipol Oruvan

Two south Indian superstars Kamal Hassan and Mohanlal acted in New Tamil Movie “Unnaipol Oruvan”. It is a remake of super hit Hindi Movie “A Wednesday”. It was already a Box Office Hit more over the recent records show it is going to be super duper hit Tamil Film Industry. It will be a “Thiruvizha” for the Movie goers in both Kerala and Tamilnadu as the two multiple Bharat Award winners acting in same movie.

The story is based on a common man who showing his anger against the terrorists. Kamal acted as the common man and Mohanlal acted as the Police Commissioner. The common man (Kamal) who represents the victim of the terrorist attacks happened in India. The Chennai Police commissioner (Mohanlal) is from Kerala and original name is “Irinjaalakkuda Govindan Raghavan (IGR) Marar”.

The Common Man calls the Chennai Police commissioner IGR Marar and tells he has planted the bombs 5 different places in Chennai. Initially the commissioner doesn’t believe the threat. But later the common Man told he has been planted the sample bomb at one police station itself.

How do I open .001 .002 .003 file extension files?

In our day to day life we have to use internet extensively. Recently I had tough time to open somefile.avi.001, somefile.avi.002, somefile.avi.003 etc. I was not aware of how to open those files. Actually I had downloaded a movie. But it had 4 parts. These parts were named as the above.

I did research all day with the help of Google search. I executed lot of system commands. Some of them even messed up my system. Finally I got some useful information from the Google search.

Actually that files were split files. By splitting the big file they give some additional extension as .001, .002, .003 etc. To make that to a single file you have to use program to join those files.

Here I have used “hjsplit” software for that. I joined those for files with that tool.After the whole day research I have found out the way to open the file.
