PDP Madani's anticipatory bail plea rejected
Bangalore: A fast track court on Friday dismissed a bail application of Kerala PDP leader Abdul Naseer Madani, an accused in the 2008 Bangalore blasts, on grounds that there was "no prima facie case to grant him anticipatory bail".
Sessions Judge Srikanth Watavatagi, who heard arguments put forward by both Madani's counsel and the public prosecutor yesterday, rejected the application, saying there was no prima facie case to grant anticipatory bail to the leader.
Public prosecutor K Rudraswamy told reporters later that the future course of action in the case would depend on the investigating agency.
"The investigating officer has to discharge his duties and collect all the material and arrest all the persons connected with the blasts case," he said.
Responding to a question, Madani's counsel P Usman said "The bail plea has been rejected. I am yet to get the certified copies of the order. I will have to study the order and discuss the future course of action with my client."
C K Abdul Aziz, chairman of PDP's Policy Formation Committee, who was also present, alleged that criminal law had been "misused" to deny anticipatory bail to Madani and they would approach the high court.
Madani and 31 others were issued charge sheet for their alleged involvement in the blasts that left a woman dead and 20 others injured here on July 25, 2008.
Madani told reporters at Anwarassery near Kollam that he would challenge the order in the high court.
Madani said while rejecting his plea the court had completely relied on the "lies and unfounded arguments" submitted by the prosecution against him.
He alleged the prosecution had "misled" the court by submitting that they had obtained Centre's sanction for issuing him a charge sheet under the Unlawful Activities Act.
Continuing his tirade against Intelligence agencies, Madani said he was being implicated in the case with "certain ulterior motives and to secure the interests of certain vested interests".
He claimed it was in the interest of some agencies "to create terrorists" as only then they could justify their relevance.
Madani, however, said he had total faith in the judiciary and would continue the legal battle to prove his innocence.
He also urged his followers not to get provoked if he was arrested and put behind bars. He said he was keen that the case against him would not lead to communal conflict.
Meanwhile, a large number of PDP workers converged at Anwarassery to pledge solidarity with their leader where several of his supporters were continuing a fast "seeking justice for Madani".

Kottakkal Shivaraman Passed away
Well known Kathakali Artiste "Kottakkal Sivaraman"(74) passed away at his house in Karalmanna late Monday night.
The 1936-born Sivaraman, a disciple of his uncle-guru Padma Shri Vazhenkada Kunchu Nair at the PSV Natyasangham in Kottakkal in north-central Kerala's Malappuram district, decided to change all this subordination. By the 1960s, he had experimented those ideas on stage with success, much to the appreciation of aesthetes not only in his native Valluvanad, an erstwhile central-Kerala fiefdom which has been the homestead for the refined Kalluvazhi style of Kathakali, but across Kerala and subsequently the rest of the world. His Karalmanna village, north of Cherpulassery, in Palakkad district thus further affixed its name on the Kathakali map.
He was famous for his female roles in Kathakali like Dhamayanthy, Sairandhri, Rugmini etc. For these roles he was given the ‘Sthree Retnam’ award by Kerala Government recently.

Flat Tire Puncture and Insurance on Rental vehicles in USA
Recently I had a bad experience with the rental car. I have taken a rental car for a week. I have taken it through the Priceline and also taken insurane.
I drove the car for 4 days with out any problem. on the fifth day the Tire got Flat Tire (Punctured). I have contacted the Rental car company and they informed me that they are not responsible for the Tire. That is our responsibility to give them back in good condition.
I went to the Tire company and enquired for the tire repair. They told that I have to replace the car. Finally I have replaced the car with brand New Tire. I lost $180 for the replace of the tire.
Out of this I learned a lesson that we have to take Insurance and Road Side Assistance from the Rental Company.

Actor Sreenath found dead
According to reports, Popular Malayalam film and TV actor Sreenath found dead in his hotel room in town in Kerala at around 8:30 am in kothamangalam town Friday morning. Reports claim that the body of the actor was found dead in the hotel room by one of the hotel staffs who then informed the authority and the police. The wrist of the deceased was found slit reportedly.
Police have not ruled out the possibility of suicide as his wrist was found slashed, he added.
Sreenath had been in Kothamangalam in Ernakulam district, around 250 km from Thiruvananthapuram, for the past two days and was shooting for Malayalam film "Shikar" starring superstar Mohanlal.

'Mauni baba' passes away - Mouni baba - Cheruvathur, Kerala
Mouni Baba, who had close proximity with veteran political leaders and celebrities and was considered to be the fourth link in the Shirdi Saibaba lineage, passed away due to cardiac arrest at Minnesota University hospital in United States, Baba’s ashram sources said Monday.
"Babaji passed away on Saturday night. He had breathing problems leading to cardiac arrest," ashram chief Savithri told. He was 80.
Baba had been observing ’Mauna Vrata’ for the last 48 years on the advice of his guru Mehar Baba, who had also observed silence for 45 years till his death. The spiritual leader had close links with eminent statesmen, celebrities and politicians including Indira Gandhi, Gulzarilal Nanda and Charan Singh.
"Indira Gandhi used to take advice from Baba on important issues," Savithri said. Nanda had once come to the cave ashram in 1972 and observed silence with the Baba for a week. Baba, whose real name was Thaivalappil Krishnan, had settled in the US in 1985 after spending 15 years in England.
He was born at Pallikkunnu in Kannur to M.K. Achuthan and Yashoda and had his schooling in Udhagamandalam (Ootty). During his study at Victoria College in Palakkad, he turned to spirituality and became a disciple of Mehar Baba.
Baba, who used to communicate in sign language, had a large following in India and abroad. He was also considered an expert on gems and stones and celebrities used to consult him on precious stones to be worn by them in accordance with their birth charts.
Some of his devotees from the film industry had floated a production company called Baba Creations that had produced several films including Mohanlal-starrer ’Vadakkunnathan’.

Kerala Temple Bill - Hindu Aikyavedi demands withdrawal of Devaswom amendment
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Hindu Aikyavedi has called upon the State Government to withdraw the proposed amendment to the Thiru-Kochi Devaswom Bill.
Addressing a news conference here on Friday, Hindu Aikyavedi state general secretary E S Biju and district working president Jyotheendra Kumar said that the Government was trying to claim the offerings of the devotees and other income of the temples by taking the advantage of its status as the custodian of the temples.
They said that the Government had vested interests in making the amendments.
The Government has no intention to speed up the development of the temple or make the functioning of the temple more effective. But it is more interested in taking the control of the temples, they said.
The Aikyavedi leaders said that the Government wanted to make the Devawom Board a mute witness by diluting its autonomous character and concentrate the power in the hands of the Devaswom Minister.
By increasing the number of Board members and ending the intervention of the High court, the Government’s decision will become final. They alleged that it was an attempt to usurp the religious freedom of the Hindus.
It is against the provisions of the Covenant and the agreement reached between the representatives of the Central Government and the Maharajas of Travancore and Kochi in 1949, they said.
They demanded that the Government should hand over the devaswom administration to the believers. Before passing the Bill, the Government should hold talks with the Hindu organisations, thantries and honest people who have administrative skills, they said.

Superstar Mohanlal begins training at Kannur Teritorial Army
Bharath Lt Col (Hon) Dr. Mohanlal reached the parent unit of the 122 Infantry Battallion of Territorial Army at Kannur on Thursday evening where he was ceremonially received by the pipe and band wing.
On Friday morning, Superstar got up at 4 am in preparation of what was an elaborate day and night training in the basics of various physical and battle skills. At 6 am, he began physical training along with other armymen for about 45 minutes before attending a meeting by battalion Commandant Col Davidson Kolath.
Around 10.30 am, Superstar Mohanlal was in military fatigues inspecting various weapons as a prelude to undergoing training at the firing range. In the afternoon, he learnt to fire using different types of rifles, something which won the admiration of the army personnel. Some of them said he learnt “quite fast’’ by standards.
The actor would be the centre of attraction at the civic reception on Saturday evening. A contingent of the battalion would stage a march-past to the Jawahar Stadium, the venue of the reception. Floats and weapon display would be arranged as part of the march past. The reception would be followed by a cultural programmes. Kolath said the presence of the actor would inspire youths to join the Territorial Army, which is a citizen’s army.
Elaborate arrangements were made at the Territorial Army unit for offering the actor mandatory post-commission training. He had already completed pre-commission and commission training in New Delhi following the conferment of the honour in June last year.

Strip Search of Girl in exam hall Ghaziabad UP
A tenth standard girl strip-searched on the suspicion she might be hiding some chits in an Exam hall. But the Teacher couldn't find any papers. It is happened in Ghaziabad Modi Nagar Rukmini Modi Mahila Inter College.
The girl was writing the English paper of the UP Intermediate Education Board (UPIEB) exams in Rukmani Modi Mahila Inter College in Modinagar, 20km from Ghaziabad, when the incident took place yesterday.
Police said they received a complaint from the girl's family that the invigilators made her remove her clothes to search for chits being carried for copying.
Nothing was found in the search but the girl could not complete the paper because of the incident, they said.
Parents and family members of the girl staged a protest in the college and approached the police.
Principal of the college Kamlesh Gaud then tendered an unconditional apology to the parents of the girl and closed the matter with an assurance that full protection will be given to all girls appearing in the examination.
"We have apologised for the incident, which has been accepted by the parents. The matter has been resolved," Gaud said.
Inspector RK Singh of Modinagar police station said no action was taken as the two parties resolved the issue.
"We had received a complaint from the girl's family. The matter was later disposed of amicably and the police did not interfere," he said.

Professor suspended Newman College Question Paper Controversy
The question paper of second year B.Com degree Malayalam course at the Newman College here allegedly had references to the Prophet that the Muslim organisations termed as 'misleading and inflammatory'.
State Education Minister M.A.Baby said he has instructed Idukki district administration to register a criminal case against the teacher who prepared the question paper. 'The investigation will reveal if it was an error on the part of the teacher or if there was a conspiracy behind it,' he said.
Thodupuzha is about 70 km from Kochi city. Meanwhile, the college has suspended the teacher and has apologised for the goof-up. Student groups affiliated to the Congress and the Indian Union Muslim League took out a protest march towards the college.

Mohanlal to join Kannur Teritorial Army Madras Regiment for Training on 25th March 2010
Mohanlal's visit to the battalion's parent unit here for four days and his participation in a civic reception being accorded to the battalion to honour its achievements are all set to be a major attraction here. Elaborate arrangements were under way at the TA unit here for offering the actor mandatory post-commission training at the parent unit.
Explaining the programmes being organised at the unit in connection with Superstar Mohanlal's visit here, battalion Commandant Col. Davidson Kolath said that he would undergo training in weapon training and battle drills, among others. The training would start on March 25 evening when the actor would reach here. On 26/03/2010, the Malayalam Superstar would undergo day and night training in the basics of various physical and battle skills, he said adding that the training would offer Mohalal to do whatever he was supposed to do as a brand ambassador of the TA. The training would also continue on March 27, he said.

Sree Rama Navami 24-03-2010 - History Of Ramnavami
Ram Navami is a popular Hindu festival. It is celebrated on the ninth day (Navami) of the Chaitra month of Hindu lunar year in 'Shukla paksha' or waxing moon. This festival is celebrated in order to commemorate the birth of Marayada Purshottam Ram, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. This day also known as Sri Rama Navami, marks the end of nine-day Chaitra-Navratri celebrations. The festival of Ram Navami is held in high regard not only by the people in India but also by the Hindu community living in the other parts of the world. The festival is celebrated with immense joy and enthusiasm. Many devotees also fast on this occasion. It is believed that all the devotees who fast on this day are showered with immense happiness and good luck by Lord Rama.
According to the great epic Ramayana, once upon a time there lived a King named Dasarath, then king of Ayodhya, who had three wives named Kaushalya, Sumithra and Kaikeyi. As even long after his marriages, Dasarath was not blessed with a child, this has become a question of worry for him. Even the people of Ayodhya were disheartened because they had not heir to their kingdom. At this stage, Rishi Vasistha suggests Dasarath to perform Puthra Kamesti Yagna, through which he can have a desired child.
Soon King Dasharath agreed to do the Yagya and headed to Maharshi Rushya Shrunga's ashram, to get him for performing the yagya. Maharshi agreed and accompanied Dasharath to Ayodhya to solemnize the perform Puthra Kamesti Yagna. As the result of yagna, Yagneshwar appeared and hands Dasarath a bowl of kheer and asked him to feed this to his three wives. Dasarath did the same. He gave one half of the kheer to his elder wife Kausalya, and another half to his younger wife Kaikeyi. These two gave one half each of their kheer to Sumithra.
After few days all the three Queens conceived Dasratha's child. On the ninth day (Navami) of Chaithra Masa (first month in Hindu calendar), at noon Kaushlya gave birth to Lord Sri Ram, Kaikeyi gave birth to Bharath, and Sumithra gave birth to twins, Lakshman and Shatrughan. It was the day of joyous celebrations in Ayodhya. This day since then is celebrated as an auspicious occasion by the devotees.
History Of Ramnavami
Ram Navami is one of the most ancient festivals celebrated in India. It is said that the date of Ram Navami can be traced back to the pre-christian era, as Hinduism is the oldest religion of the world. The reference of Ramnavami can also be found in the Kalika puran. In Hindu religion, it is considered to one of the five major sacred festivals and it is said that, properly observing this fast leads to the attainment of salvation.

In Hindu mythology, Shri Hanuman is regarded as the God of power, strength and knowledge. He is known as the ‘param bhakt’ of lord Rama and is the incarnation of Lord Shiva. He was born to Kesari and Anjani on the Chaitra Shukla Purnima (Chaitra Shukla Purnima is the Full Moon Day on the Hindu Calendar Month of Chaitra) that is why, he is known as ‘KESERI NANDAN’ and ‘ANJANEYA’. The philosophy of epic Ramayana is incomplete without the understanding of the unfathomable devotion of Lord Hanuman for Shri Rama. As Hindu Mythology says, He was the incarnation of Lord Shiva the God of Destruction, the Third god of Hindu trinity (All this universe is in the glory of God, of Shiva, the God of Love. The heads and faces of men are His own and He is in the hearts of all - Yajur Veda).
Lord Hanuman is regarded to be the son of Hindu deity ‘VAYU’ (the wind). He was taken by 'Vayu' to Lord Sun to gain Vedic, shastra's and moral knowledge. He gained his whole knowledge from Lord Sun, as he was considered as omniscient on the planet earth.
As per the mythology, Hanuman ji is invincible and blessed to be immortal. The supremacy possessed by him is very beautifully described in Ramayana, during the Ramayana war of Lord Rama against the mighty Ravana. The Sundara Kanda, the fifth book in the Ramayana, focuses mainly on the adventures of Hanuman.
